FAIRFAXThe Fairfax neighborhood is a great choice for young professionals looking for a quick commute to jobs in University Circle and downtown, and for empty-nesters shopping for a high quality home without maintenance or lawn care hassles. Next door to the successful Beacon Place development, which quickly sold all of its 92 for-sale units, the neighborhood currently is building Woodhaven, a new project of 80 contemporary-style homes and townhouses. All the new units feature open floor plans, brand new construction and tidy landscaping that provides a homey feel without requiring hours of work. Homebuyers can customize any unit with amenities including hardwood floors and marble countertops. Both Beacon Place and Woodland are located near Church Square, a popular shopping center with a grocery store and 109,000 square feet of retail space. Fairfax is also undertaking a major partnership with the Cleveland Clinic to develop a state-of-the-art, $18 million Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center. Even closer to the jobs and cultural institutions of University Circle, eight homes are planned to be built this year by the Fairfax Community Development Corporation in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic on East 97th and East 100th Streets. The proposed new homes will be in a more traditional Victorian style and will sit on model blocks, where homeowners in the surrounding area would have access to assistance for home improvements.
