TREMONT
Long recognized as the best place in Northeast Ohio for art lovers, Tremont also is one of the most desirable residential neighborhoods in the region. Now Tremont is combining its artistic heritage and its reputation as a great place to live at Valley View Estates, a brand new development in 190 townhouses, multiple units and single-family homes with sweeping views of the Cuyahoga Valley, just a short walk away from the restaurants and art galleries that make Tremont famous. Both rental and for-sale units are available, all with a high level of design, finishes and amenities. The hillside once was dotted with historic murals and stone statues of squirrels and rabbits, all built by artists with the Depression-era Works Progress Administration to beautify one of the nation’s first subsidized housing projects. Now Cleveland Public Art is helping to restore these art pieces to incorporate them into the new community.
Up the hill from Valley View, the Tremont West Development Corporation is working with homeowners to revive a cluster of factory workers cottages with better lighting and street improvements. Not far away, the corporation and Cleveland Public Art have erected a large sculpture of a hand holding to Steelyard Commons, a new retail development with one million square feet of shopping space.
